PRINCETON — Two men who have seen the negative aspects of drinking and driving have started a limo service in Princeton to prevent drivers from getting behind the wheel after they’ve been drinking.

Dave Turpen and Joe Welte started Two Guys Limo in April after talking about starting a business together for several years.

“We thought about a franchise restaurant, but we decided on this,” said Turpen.

“We both loved cars and thought this would be a good business,” added Welte.

“There isn’t a legitimate limo service close to this area,” said Turpen, a man who retired in 2002 after 25 years of experience working in the field of law enforcement. “Our motto is, ‘Let us handle the driving.’”

Two Guys Limo is available for traditional events such as proms or weddings as well as shuttles to Chicago, Peoria, Quad City, Rockford or Bloomington-Normal airports and corporate travel. They also can help with anniversaries, birthday parties, casino trips, comedy clubs, concerts, dinners out, romantic evenings, nights on the town and sporting events.

They will service bachelor and bachelorette parties, bridal showers and engagement parties.

Both men have responded to accidents where drivers were driving drunk.

Turpen worked for six years at the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department before moving away and becoming an officer in a town in Kentucky. He eventually moved through the ranks and became an assistant chief before retiring. Turpen moved back to this area about three and one-half years ago.

Welte also has 17 years of experience working as an EMT and firefighter for a fire department in Bureau County.
