PRINCETON - Two Princeton men with a combined experience of 28 years in landscaping and horticulture have teamed up to open a new landscaping service, Twin Oaks Landscaping Co. Phillip Erickson and Bob Espel started Twin Oaks Landscaping in February 2008. The business provides both residential and commercial services including retaining walls, brick patios, seeding, trees, shrubs, trimming, mulch, black dirt, water features, and will also provide snow removal and salting during winter months. “We’re a full-compass landscaping operation,” said Espel, who has a horticulture degree from Southern Illinois University and is an Illinois certified nursery professional. Twin Oaks has already completed projects in Princeton, Spring Valley, Ohio, Neponset, Peru and Lake Thunderbird. Four employees, including Erickson and Espel, help customers watch their dreams for the landscaping of their home or business progress move from an idea or a concept to the reality of a finished landscape. “We start by meeting with a customer and get their ideas,” Erickson said. “Then maybe we’ll suggest some things, make a plan, and go from there.” Erickson and Espel agreed landscaping combines aspects of art, design and construction to carry out a full project. The business partners said they like working as landscapers0 because they can work outside and they enjoy seeing the positive reactions of customers when a landscape is completed. In addition to landscaping services, Twin Oaks Landscaping also sells mulch and topsoil. Before opening their own business, Erickson and Espel completed many landscaping jobs in the Chicago suburbs. Twin Oaks Landscaping Company is located at 1119 N. Church St., Unit C, in Princeton. To contact Espel, call (815) 303-7061 or to contact Erickson, call (815) 878-6130.
