PRINCETON — Allied Home Mortgage Capital Corporation opened a branch in Princeton in October 2007.

Betty Fisher, branch manager and licensed loan officer, has 10 years of prior experience in the mortgage banking industry. She was formerly a co-branch manager at American Home Loans in Princeton and received an award of excellence in 2002 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program for her work in closed loans.

Fisher, a life-long Princeton resident, emphasized the services and U.S. government programs which Allied Home Mortgage offers to home buyers.

“We do residential mortgages,” Fisher said. “We specialize in government products that allow 100-percent financing, first-time home buyers, rehabilitation loans to help rehab houses that need some work. We specialize in these things to complement local banks. Most of the local banks do not offer the government loans that we do.”

One reason she entered the mortgage industry was to help educate others about the programs and options available to those hoping to own a home.

“One of the main reasons I got into the business was because I wish somebody would have explained more to me when I was a new home buyer, to know what programs are out there,” she said. “Many people don’t think they can buy a house because they’re just not aware of the programs out there. So, one of the things I like to do is educate. I do a lot of explaining and personal service, as far as making sure customers understand what product they have and how it works.”

When borrowers are not yet eligible for a loan or program, Fisher creates a plan to help them achieve their goals.

“For borrowers who may not quite be eligible to meet the criteria for loans, I give them a game plan of steps they need to take toward their goal of owning a home,” Fisher said. “I offer assistance during that time, as they’re working through those steps. If they have any questions or need help with the steps, I offer to do that.”

Fisher said she especially enjoys her job as a loan officer when she sees customers who are successful in their plans.

“It’s really rewarding when you have someone you’ve been working with for a year or so, and then they come back and they’re to the point where they’re ready to buy a home,” she said.

Allied Home Mortgage is willing to go the extra mile for customers, Fisher said.

“What makes us unique is the fact that we are flexible with our appointments,” Fisher said. “We do make evening and weekend appointments. We will even drive to meet the client if necessary, anywhere in Illinois.”

Both Fisher and loan officer assistant Cindy Wheeler said customer service and satisfaction is very important to them.

“We work hard at customer service,” Fisher said. “I do care about each and every client and their loans, and I want to do what is best for them. I really try to do for them what I would want someone to do for me.”
