Application deadline nears for pageants

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Fair Association is accepting applications for the 2008 Miss Bureau County Fair Queen, Junior Miss Bureau County Fair Queen and Little Miss Bureau County Fair pageants.

Miss Bureau County

Guidelines for entering in the Miss Bureau County Fair are: Must be a resident of one of the following counties: Bureau, LaSalle, Putnam, Marshall, Stark, Henry, Whiteside or Lee; must be between the ages of 16 and not over 21 years of age by Aug. 1, 2008; and can not be a title holder as queen from another contest (this excludes runners-up). Areas of competition include interview, speech and communication skills, evening gown, swimsuit and on-stage question.

Applications must be postmarked on or before Thursday. A $100 sponsorship fee, which can be a business, club or organization from any of counties previously listed, is also due by July 10 with the application.

This year’s pageant will be at 7 p.m. July 29 in the auditorium at Bureau Valley High School in Manlius.

Junior Miss Bureau County

Guidelines for entering the Junior Miss Bureau County Fair are: Must be a resident of Bureau County; and must be between the ages of 12 and 14 on or before Aug. 1. Areas of competition will include interview, speech and communication skills, party dress and an on-stage question.

Applications must be postmarked on or before Thursday. The pageant is limited to the first 20 applications.

This year’s pageant will be at 7 p.m. July 29 in the Bureau Valley High School auditorium.

Little Miss Bureau County

Guidelines for entering in the Little Miss Bureau County Fair are: Must be a resident of Bureau County; and must be between the ages of 6 and 8 on or before Aug. 1. Areas of competition will include interview, fish bowl and resume question, and stage presence.

Applications must be postmarked by Thursday. The pageant is limited to the first 14 applications.

This year’s pageant will be at 6 p.m. July 29 in the Bureau Valley High School auditorium.

The year’s Bureau County Fair will run Aug. 20-24 in Princeton.
