Darlene JacksonBUDA — Darlene Anna Jackson, 95, of Buda died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Colonial Hall Care Center in Princeton. Born Aug. 2, 1912, in Princeton to Daniel and Jessie May (Anson) Ropp, she married Joseph Jackson Sept. 23, 1930, in Camp Grove. He died Feb. 11, 1997. She attended Tiskilwa High School. She was a Fuller Brush dealer for 18 years and had been a newspaper corespondent for the Star Courier, Sheffield Bulletin, Bureau County Republican and Bureau Valley Chief. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Buda, Princeton Rebecca Lodge, District 16 Mothers of World War II, Buda Garden Club, Buda Woman’s Club, Bureau County Genealogy Society and Home Extension. Surviving are four daughters, Mildred (Max Halberg) Dean of Princeton, Sandra (Neil) Bitting of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joan (David) Nelson of Richland, Wash., and Ruth (Marvin) Buckman of Buda; three sons, William (Patricia) Jackson of Mineral, Richard (Louise) Jackson of Mendota and Robert (Laura) Jackson of Henry; one brother, Lt. Col. Daniel Ropp of Corpus Christi, Texas; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Joseph Jackson; two brothers, Eugene and Walter Ropp; and two infant brothers and one sister. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Buda, with the Rev. Dale Kooi officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Sheffield United Methodist Church or Buda Fire and Rescue. |
