
Arden NobleWALNUT — Arden Noble, 85, of 203 S. Second St., Walnut, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford. Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Fleming, N.Y., to Perry and Velma (Landers) Noble, he married Shirley Ann White June 6, 1954, in the First Christian Church of Walnut. She survives. He attended schools in New York and Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, serving two years in the South Pacific-Philippines. He then went into the construction business with his father and two brothers and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Walnut Fire Department for 28 years and the Bureau County Board for 14 years. He was also a member of Walnut American Legion Post 179 for many years and the VFW in Wyanet. He served on the board and was deacon for many years at the First Christian Church of Walnut of which he was a member. Also surviving are one daughter, Peggy Ann Doering of Davenport, Iowa; two sons, Douglas Arden (Robin) Noble of Alpharetta, Ga., and Bradley Alan (Jackie) Noble of Morrison; one brother Robert (Mary Olson) Noble of Walnut; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and one cousin, Pat (Carl) Hultine of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Perry Jr.; and two sisters, Jean Zentz and Joan Mattes. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Brian Moore, pastor of the First Christian Church of Walnut, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church of Walnut or Walnut Manor Nursing Home. |
