Woodcrafters meet

PRINCETON — Woodcrafters Unlimited will hold their annual picnic on Aug. 21 at Ray’s Place in Hennepin. All members, spouses, friends and other interested guest are invited to attend. A cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m. and those attending may either order off the menu or have the buffet. Those interested in attending are asked to contact Jim Whitaker at (815) 339-6330 or Norm Genslinger at (815) 872-1533 with a number of those attending.

Kolp reunion

WALNUT — The Kolp family reunion will be begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heaton shelter in Walnut Park. Family members are asked to bring a meat dish, dessert or vegetable dish, and drink.

Bingo

PRINCETON — Home Bound Healthcare will hold a new bingo game, starting Monday, at the Bureau County Senior Center in Princeton. All Bureau County seniors are welcome to attend. Prizes will be donated by the Home Bound Healthcare Agency.

Cookout

WYANET — The Wyanet Community Club will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. The menu will include rib eyes, chops, brats, hot dogs, pork burgers, chips and soda.

Dover Day

DOVER — Area residents are invited to bring their families for an afternoon of fun and experience a day in the life of the early pioneers on Dover Day, set for Saturday. At 1 p.m. there will be a baseball game between the villagers and Dover Church members. From 2 to 5:30 p.m. there will be antique tractors, a car show, blacksmith and pottery demonstrations, and miniature train rides for the kids. Dinner in the park is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a local talent show will be from 7 to 9 p.m. All proceeds will go toward new playground equipment.

Annual float fly

DEPUE — The Windy Flyers of Bureau County will host its 11th annual radio-controlled model airplane float fly from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lake DePue. The club will host members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics from around the state and some from out of state. Flyers will demonstrate the flying capabilities of their model seaplanes and be available to the public for questions. Food, soft drinks and water will be available. Fundraiser cookout

PRINCETON — The Tri-County Humane Society will hold a fundraiser cookout from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sull-van’s Foods. The menu will include pork chops, brats and hot dogs.

PADS meeting

PERU — PADS (the local homeless shelter) will hold its monthly board of directors meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Peru PADS shelter. Anyone interested in serving on the board of directors for Illinois Valley PADS and has experience in not-for-profit organizations is asked to consider attending this meeting.
