PRINCETON — Road Map Ministries is adding more family oriented events to the 153rd Bureau County Fair in Princeton. On Wednesday, Road Map Ministries will present the “Battle of the Praise Bands” at 7 p.m. in a free grandstand event. The band with the most votes will win the chance to open the show Thursday evening. On Thursday, Road Map will present comedian Bob Smiley at 7 p.m. Bob has done stand up for more than 10 years, opening for many praise concerts including Newsboys, Third Day, Switchfoot and many others. He does 80 to 100 shows a year, and recently finished a new book titled “Average Boy’s Guide to Growing Up”. Advance tickets are available at the fair office and include the fair gate admission. Adults are $14 and ages 7 to 12 are $7. On Sunday, Road Map will present a Bureau County community church service in the grandstand at 10 a.m. Fourteen area congregations have foregone their normal Sunday morning worship service and will worship together at the fairgrounds grandstand. This was a tradition for many years as part of the fair, and the tradition is being re-started this year. Everyone is welcome, and are encouraged to attend by entering the fairgrounds through the west gate Sunday morning. Those wishing to attend the fair afterwards can pay a discounted gate admission after the worship. |
