Voting begins Saturday in baby contest

PRINCETON — The final entry in the 2008 Bureau County Homestead Festival Baby Contest is Gabriella Romagnoli, 12 months, the daughter of Elizabeth and Steve Romagnoli of Tiskilwa.

This year’s contest will include 42 entries. Voting begins today and will continue until noon on Sept. 12.

Each photo will have a canister in which votes can be cast. One dollar equals one hundred votes. The boy and girl with the most votes will be the winners. There will also be a girl runner-up and boy runner-up. The canisters will be in the main lobby of Amcore Bank starting today, Saturday, through around 9 a.m. Aug. 30, at which time they will be moved to the main lobby Centrue Bank until around 9 a.m. Sept. 6. The canisters will then be moved to the main lobby of Citizens First National Bank where they will remain until noon Sept. 12.

The winners will be notified Sept. 12 and then introduced during the evening Homestead Festival announcements and pork dinner/ice cream social.

Prizes will be given to the winners, as well as the runners-up. All winners and their parents will also have a spot in the Homestead Festival parade.

The Princeton Junior Woman’s Club will donate all proceeds from the contest back to the community and various non-profit organizations within Bureau County.
