Edward Fassino

SPRING VALLEY — Edward Fassino, 82, of 512 W. Third St., Spring Valley, died at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Ladd to Anton and Mattie Belle (Ellis) Fassino. He married Dolores Vallero July 5, 1947, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She survives.

He served as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. He was a graduate of Newberry College in Newberry, S.C. He retired in 1988 from Sundstrand as a senior processing engineer.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley, the Spring Valley Jaycees and was a past commander of the Spring Valley VFW.

Also surviving are two sons, David (Jodie) Fassino of Chillicothe and Michael (Dena) Fassino of Peru; two daughters, Deborah (Paul) Sweeden of Ottawa and Mary Belle (Robert) Coutts of Ladd; one sister, Sheila (Donald) Biagioni of Perryberg, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with a funeral Mass at noon in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
