Volunteer babysitters are needed

PRINCETON — Freedom House is seeking volunteer babysitters who are available during daytime hours.

“We oftentimes have moms staying in shelter that need to go to a job interview, GED class or college or even a doctor’s appointment, and they have no family or friends in which to leave the children for that brief period they expect to be gone,” said Stephanie Cartwright, special projects manager.

“We’re hoping to find volunteers that wouldn’t mind being called on short notice, maybe just an hour or two up to one day’s notice, and of course, we also need someone that really enjoys children,” she added.

Those interested in babysitting are asked to call Cartwright at (815) 872-0087, ext. 224. Freedom House is a domestic and sexual violence services’ center, open 24 hours a day, at 440 Elm Place, Princeton. Freedom House primarily serves clients and their children in Bureau, Henry, Marshall, Putnam and Stark counties.
