First aid class

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Metro Center will hold an American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety class for those 12 years old and older from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 and Nov. 15. The class combines CPR and first aid training to teach participants to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults. This is a good class for teachers, parents and other childcare providers. The cost is $30. Instructor is Beth Coleman. To register for the class, or for more information, call (815) 872-0840.

Cookout

WYANET — The Wyanet Boy Scouts will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today, Saturday, at the Wyanet Locker.

Support group

PERU/SPRING VALLEY — La Leche League of the Illinois Valley, a breastfeeding support group, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Peru and at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 18 in Webster Park, Spring Valley. This monthly group is designed to help mothers gain knowledge and support from other breastfeeding moms. September’s discussion will revolve around, but not limited to, “The Advantages of Breastfeeding”. Expecting mothers are also encouraged to attend. ‘Wicked’ trip

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Metro Center will sponsor a trip for all ages to the Oriental Theater in Chicago to see “Wicked” on Sept. 27. Departure time from the Metro Center is 9:30 a.m. and the fee is $95. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 15. For more information, call (815) 872-0840.

Community club

PRINCETON — The Center Grove Community Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at Wise Guys for lunch. Reservations should be sent to Sharon Rabe by Tuesday.

Breakfast planned

PERU — An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be from 7 a.m. to noon Sept. 21 at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport. The menu will include eggs, fixed any way you want them, pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and juice. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 4 to 12. There will be airplane rides for $15, helicopter rides for $30 and raffles to win a trip to Las Vegas or a flat screen TV.

Pancake breakfast

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 and over.

Meeting set

PRINCETON — The Princeton Jr. HCE will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Lois Richards. Dorothy Johnson is co-hostess. The lesson will be “Creating an Heirloom” given by Shirley Sears and Dorothy Herrick.

Legion meeting

SPRING VALLEY — Spring Valley American Legion, Dominic Oberto Post will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Church School Hall.
