Freedom House anniversary celebration and ballPRINCETON — Vince Gelsomino and Phaze will be featured at Freedom House’s Silver Anniversary Celebration and Ball, slated for 6 p.m. Saturday at The Galleria in Princeton. Tickets are $25, and proceeds will benefit Freedom House clients and their children. Phaze, a versatile band under the direction of Vince Gelsomino, is based in Princeton. The band can play any music, including “big band” styles, such as swing, fox trot, waltz, quick step and polka as well as the Latin styles of rumba, cha cha, samba and tango. In addition, they can also play jazz, country, rock and roll and music just for your listening pleasure. Phaze debuted in August of 2005 and consists of Gelsomino, trumpet and flugelhorn; Alicia Hamilton, vocalist; Jim Blucker, keyboard; Brian Weber, percussion; and Tom Schaffer, bass guitar. Gelsomino has performed as a free lance professional trumpet player with several famous orchestras. The group of professional musicians has performed locally at the Princeton Elks Lodge, the Peru Eagles Club, the Ottawa Elks Lodge, the Kewanee Flemish American Club, the Deer Park Country Club in Oglesby, the ITOO Club in Peoria as well as at local festivals, veteran’s dances, fundraisers and private dances. They have also performed at The Col Ballroom in Davenport, Iowa and the Crystal Ballroom in Staunton.
