Blood drive

PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will have a blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in the fourth floor multi-purpose room of Perry Memorial Hospital. Donors who last gave blood on or before Aug. 7 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form. To make an appointment, call (800) 747-5401, ext. 119.

Cookout

WYANET — The Wyanet Community Club will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. The menu will include rib eyes, butterfly pork chops, pork burgers, brats and hot dogs.

Program set

PRINCETON — Officers for Professional Home Economists of Bureau County, including Marian Lovgren, Julie McCutchan, Rose Pratt and Barbara Mills, have announced the new program year which will begin with a tour to Tampico on Tuesday. Members and guests will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the southeast corner of Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton and car pool to meet in Tampico and visit the Country Lane Market, Sunrise Acres Bakery and Martin’s Furniture. Fall car cruise

PRINCETON — Illinois Valley Cruisers will hold its second annual fall car cruise from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4 at Darius Miller Park in Princeton. The cruise out will be at 8:45 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There will be a $100 muffler rapping prize and music will be provided by 3-D Sound. The rain date will be 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 5.

Canal boat trip

WYANET — The Wyanet Golden Eagles invite all seniors, 50 and over, to the I & M canal boat trip on Oct. 7. Participants should meet at the Wyanet VFW Hall at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be at the Lock 16 Visitor Center in LaSalle. R.S.V.P Irma Mechling at (815) 699-7739 by Tuesday.

Drive-in movie

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Metro Center will host a drive-in movie on its new giant screen at 8:30 p.m. Friday. All ages are welcome. The public is invited to find a space in the parking lot and enjoy the movie. The cost is $5 per person or $15 for a carload of four or more. A concession stand will be available.
