Used tire collection set for Oct. 14

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Health Department, along with the Bureau County Farm Bureau and other Bureau county organizations, are announcing a countywide used/waste tire collection on Oct. 14. This tire collection program is being held in conjunction with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

The location for the program is the Princeton Recycling Center just off of North Euclid Avenue. The planned hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Requirements/restrictions are:

• No tires will be accepted from businesses such as tire dealers, gas stations, commercial trucking companies, or anyone that will be generating and accumulating used tires after the collection has occurred.

• No tires can be unloaded from vehicles having license plates from outside the state of Illinois.

• Not accepted: Semi trailers, tires from vehicles having license plates from outside the state of Illinois, large industrial/off road tires.

• Accepted tires: Tractor, truck and passenger car tires.

• All participants must complete and sign a Consensual Removal Agreement form before any of their tires are unloaded.

• Maximum number of tires any individual can bring is limited to 200. Remember, no businesses.

• People with more than 1,000 tires need to contact Donna Shehane, IEPA, at (815) 987-7760 for further information and payment options.

Individuals who participated in a previous tire cleanup event sponsored by the IEPA cannot participate again.
