DAR meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton-Illinois Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Friday at the Prouty Community Building. The program, presented by District II director Luanne F. Bruckner, is entitled “38 Years Behind the Scenes of the DAR.” Bruckner will also hold a mini-workshop on the wearing and placement of the DAR insignias, pins and ribbons.

The District II meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Maples Supper Club in Peru with a bingo party at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle to follow.

Hostesses for the day are Lucile Munson, chairman; Bonnie Schutt and Mary E. May.

Blood drive

PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the fourth floor multi-purpose room of Perry Memorial Hospital. Donors who last gave blood on or before Aug. 13 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form, available from blood center offices or its Web site www.bloodcenter.org. Malden Health Fair

The Bureau/Putnam County Health Departments, Malden Community Consolidated School District and C.H.A.M.P.S. (Coordinated Health Approach Means Progress for School) Committee are hosting a health fair. The health fair will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Malden Community Consolidated School District Gymnasium. The health fair is being held in conjunction with the schools Solar Energy Celebration. This event is open to the public.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness on the variety of health services available to residents in Malden and to also celebrate Malden’s Solar Energy Grant. The evening will include various screening opportunities, informational videos, and booths with related agencies offering information, door prizes, refreshments and much more.

Exhibitors will include Bureau/Putnam County Health Department, North Central Behavioral Health Systems, IVCC Nursing Program, Perry Memorial Hospital, St. Margaret’s Health, Child & Family Connections, Princeton Police Department - D.A.R.E. Program, Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Elmore Electric, the University of Illinois Extension, Bureau County Health & Wellness and Freedom House.
