James Williams

HENRY — James Edward Williams, 88, of Henry died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry.

Born Feb. 26, 1920, in Providence, R.I., to William J. and Mabel (Condon) Williams, he married Doris M. Brown Jan. 18, 1946, in Henry. She survives.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir and a member of the Red Covered Bridge Barbershoppers.

He was employed in the laboratory at B.F. Goodrich, Henry, for many years, retiring in 1982.

Also surviving are two sons, James E. “Jamie” (Maria) Williams of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and William R. “Bill” (Lenora) Williams of Princeton; three daughters, Marsha L. (Paul) Yarrington of Albuquerque, N.M.; Beth E. (Eugene F. “Rick) Gehrt of Peoria and Valerie A. (James “Pete”) Petersen of Henry; 13 grandchildren, James E. Williams III, Pamela Boe, Greg, Williams, Jennifer Mesich, Andrew Yarrington, Bridget McNamara, Eugene F. “Trey” Gehrt III, Amy Gehrt, Sarah (Lee) Bowman, Allison (Dwight) Brant, Candice (Eric) Foster, April Williams and William Williams and six great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Billie Jo Williams; and two sisters, Dorothy Steele and Bette Gabrielson, preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Henry United Methodist Church, the Rev. Peg Emmert officiating

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to his church.

Calvert-Johnson and McKitrick Memorial Home in Henry is in charge of arrangements.
