
Community NotesFlea market PRINCETON — The Second Sunday flea market will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. The market will have new, slightly used and antique items for sale in the exhibit halls. Special event PRINCETON — Nightmare on Fairgrounds Road - Haunted Fairgrounds will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. today, Saturday, at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. The event will feature a “Lights On” from 6 to 7 p.m. for the easily scared. The lights will be turned off from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Nightmare on Fairgrounds Road will also be on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25. Admission is $6 person, with children 6 and under free. GFWC meeting PRINCETON — The GFWC Woman’s Club of Princeton will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Prouty Building in Princeton. Jean Lawton will present the program, “Traveling in Belgium, Holland and Paris.” The members of the Woman’s Club invite all women of the community to join them for the program, a short business meeting, refreshments and social time. “Smile Sacks” to be used in EMT ambulances will be filled this month. Last month’s program included a video showing activities and locale in Haiti which are the focus of the local group, “Hands Helping Haiti.” Linda Heston spoke about how this group began, its work with the people through medical clinic and education, and a new project for building and operating a school. All donations and funds raised go for helping — no administrative costs. Potluck planned PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center holds a potluck on the first and third Friday of each month. On Friday, the center will hold a “Bring a Friend” potluck. The center provides the main meat dish along with drinks and the seniors are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. The program for the day will be Carol Gunberg on her many trips to America’s Great Light Houses. All Bureau County seniors are welcome to attend. |
