Five charged with theft at Kohl's

PERU — Three Bureau County residents, along with two persons from Kewanee, were among five people charged with felony retail theft by Peru police officers at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 following an incident at Kohl’s Department Store. Charged were Brianna L. Olson, 17, and Danielle E. Jager, 20, both of Sheffield; Joseph D. Fleming, 19, of Buda; and Peggy A. Csender, 23, and William T.A. Poole, 19, both of Kewanee.

According to officers, Kohl’s Department Store security observed several subjects taking various items from the store. They provided police with a description of the vehicle in which the suspects had left the scene.

Within minutes, officers observed a vehicle matching the description by store security and executed a traffic stop on the vehicle. Following a lengthy investigation, the officers discovered stolen items from a total of six stores and recovered $3,000 worth of merchandise from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
