Community NotesMagic bus ride PRINCETON — The children of the First United Methodist Church, 316 S. Church St., Princeton, will present the skit “A Magical Bus Ride Through the Bible” during both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services on Sunday. The children will ride in a Magical Bible Bus and visit 11 different scenes from the Bible. Through their journey, they will encounter Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Jesus and Paul. The scenes will be performed by the junior high Sunday school class while the other children ride in the bus. There will be a lot of singing and fun. The public is invited to attend the program and learn some of the main teachings of the Bible. Program planned PRINCETON — A Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program will be offered Monday at Douglas School in Princeton. The speaker for the program will be Claudia Bachman from North Central Behavioral Health Systems. Her topic will be “It’s all about Respect”. Registration is required and can be done by calling the University of Illinois - Bureau County office at (815) 875-2878. For more information, contact Susan Glassman, program coordinator. Free child care will be offered through the Douglas School Early Childhood Programs. Halloween bash OHIO — All children age 4 and older are invited to the Ohio Public Library’s annual Halloween Bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25. There will be contests, games and a hayrack ride around town. Lunch and snacks will be served. Prizes will be given for the best costume. Teen dance PRINCETON — A youth dance for eighth-graders and under, sponsored by the Princeton Moose Kids Club, will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Princeton Moose Lodge. Admission is $4. Herb Guild meeting STANDARD — The next meeting of the Illinois Valley Herb Guild will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center in Standard. The program will be beekeeping by Linda Pantenberg and the Herb of the Month will be horseradish by Marilyn Koudelka. Membership dues are to be paid at this meeting for the year. The reprinting of the guild’s cookbook is to be discussed and voted on at this meeting. Any corrections that need to be made must be turned in at this time. Ham supper PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will hold its fifth annual ham supper on Nov. 1 at the post home, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton. Serving will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with tickets available at the door. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children 5-10. The menu will include baked ham, scalloped potatoes, scalloped corn, green beans, gelatin salads, applesauce, bread and butter, coffee, iced tea and desserts. This is a major fundraiser for the Unit to continue work with its veterans projects throughout the year. Haunted house LAMOILLE — “Galore of Gore,” the annual haunted school sponsored by the LaMoille High School art club, art department and music department, will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 25. The cost is $5 per person or $4 with a non-perishable food donation. More than 10 different, scary rooms and a giant haunted maze can be found at the LaMoille High School. This event is not recommended for small children. |
