Annual meeting
WYANET — The annual meeting of the Wyanet Old Car Club will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Coffee Depot in Wyanet. After the buffet dinner, the Old Buff award will be awarded to a member with the following criteria: Interest in old cars, attendance, participation, etc. Reservations must be made by Nov. 15 by calling the committee at (815) 388-8536.
Veterans supper
BUDA — A veterans supper will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Buda Community Hall. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4-12. Meals for all veterans will be free. The event will also include raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
Open house
PRINCETON — Princeton’s annual Christmas open house will be Nov. 22 and 23. Stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 22 and from noon until 4 p.m. on Nov. 23. The event will also include horse-drawn carriage and trolley rides, a visit with Santa at the Prouty Building and entertainment by the Bellringers, Gerald Marsh and his accordion, and the Covered Bridge Barbershop Harmony Chorus. The event is sponsored by Kirby Henning Pharmacy, Citizens First National Bank and the Princeton Chamber of Commerce.
Volunteers wanted
Individuals are wanted to help with a local fundraiser for juvenile diabetes. Any person or organization that would like to help plan or provide entertainment/ refreshments is asked to call Michelle Blythe at (815) 454-2032.
Pancake breakfast
PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the American Legion Post, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton. The menu will include pancakes, sausages, eggs, juice and coffee. This is a major fundraiser for the group. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 3-10. The Princeton Veterans Group consists of American Legion Post 125, VFW Post 4323 and Amvets Post 180.
Chili supper
PRINCETON — The Children’s Miracle Network Committee and associates of Wal-Mart will hold a chili supper from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Moose Lodge. The menu will include chili, cornbread, dessert and drinks. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for ages 5-12. Tickets will be available at the door.
Painting class
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will provide a painting class at 10 a.m. Nov. 17. Participants will paint a basket of apples in a field of grass. Instead of using oils, acrylics paints will be used. This class will use a video to paint from and the painting may take more than one session. All Bureau County seniors are welcome to attend. For a list of supplies or to reserve a spot, call the senior center at (815) 879-3981.
House blessing
PRINCETON — Habitat for Humanity, Bureau/ LaSalle counties, will hold a house blessing a recently completed house on the corner of Longhaven and North Cherry streets at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be a short ceremony and those wishing may walk through the home.
Veterans Day event
PRINCETON — Princeton High School’s First Class Committee will serve coffee, juice and doughnuts from 7:15 to 8 a.m. Nov. 11 in the high school cafeteria for all area veterans in honor of Veterans Day. At 7:50 a.m., the Personal Communications class will present PHS with a Flag of Freedom which will be raised by members of the American Legion and Auxiliary at the PHS flagpole followed by the pledge of allegiance. All veterans are invited to attend.
