Area fire departments provide smoke detectors

WALNUT — In the spirit of fire prevention week, several area fire departments distributed free smoke detectors to children in Bureau Valley North and Bureau Valley South Elementary Schools. According to Walnut FIre Chief Scott Carlson, about 820 smoke detectors were given away. Chief Carlson said, “We would like to thank the many organizations that are working with us to help make you and your children safer.”

Along with the Walnut Fire Department, area businesses and fire departments who made this valuable cause possible are Bureau County Ambulances Association, Green River Riders, Walnut Rotary, Ace Distribution Center, Manlius Fire Department, village of Walnut, Wyanet Fire Department, Buda Fire Department, Walnut Community Club, First Alert Smoke Detectors, Sheffield Ambulance, Rayovac, village of Manlius, Ohio Fire Department, Michlig Ag and Sheffield Fire Department.
