
Charles SchertzTISKILWA — Charles A. Schertz, 93, of Tiskilwa died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. He had resided at Orchard View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for 2 1/2 years. Born June 23, 1915, in Chicago to Albert C. and Clara A. (Ringenberg) Schertz, he married Clarice B. Sarver Nov. 8, 1936, in Princeton. She died Oct. 8, 1998. He was a graduate of Tiskilwa High School. He farmed and had worked as a mechanic for Ruder Power Equipment in Manteno from 1962 to 1977. He was active in the Tiskilwa Bible Church and volunteer for the church Kids Club. He was a member of the Antique Engine’s Association, and had served on the Tiskilwa Fire Department and Tiskilwa School Board. Surviving are three children, Dee Ann (Arthur) Nelson of Tiskilwa, William (Paula) Schertz of Batavia and Thomas (Victoria) Schertz of Tiskilwa; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tiskilwa Bible Church with the Rev. Lloyd Doyens officiating. Burial will be in Mount Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton.
