Breakfast with Santa
PRINCETON — Colonial Hall Care Center in Princeton will hold a Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 13. A light breakfast will be served, and there will be crafts for the kids and pictures with Santa. To register, call Lou Anne Kenwick or Michelle Philhower at (815) 875-3347.
Auxiliary workshop
PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 will conduct a second “Overseas Workshop” at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The Unit has received additional names and addresses of military personnel stationed in Afghanistan and the Unit will send them a Christmas box as well. All members are encouraged to attend. Pie and cookie sale
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Red Cross will hold a pie and cookie sale from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 at the Prouty Building in Prince-ton. This event will be held in conjunction with the Bureau County Home and Community Education Association’s annual giant cookie walk. All proceeds will benefit the Bureau County Red Cross.
Tiskilwa library
TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Public Library will participate in the Historical Society’s “Tiskilwa Walk/Open House” Dec. 13. Everyone is invited. Christmas cookie walk
LADD — St. Benedict’s parish will hold a Christmas cookie walk from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 14 at the parish hall. There will be homemade cookies, candies and assorted ethnic delicacies. Cost is $5 per pound. Carry-out container is provided.
Performances set
PRINCETON — The Covered Bridge Chorus of Bureau County will sing for residents and guests of the Princeton Hi-Rise at 7 p.m. Tuesday. On Dec. 14, they will perform at the Toulon Health Care Center at 3 p.m. and at Greenfield Retirement Home at 7 p.m. Perfor-mances by the Chorus for senior citizen groups and health care centers are sponsored in part by the Illinois Valley Fine Arts Trust, an agency that encourages fine arts in the Illinois Valley from Ottawa to Princeton. The Chorus, which belongs to the Barbershop Harmony Society, will resume its regular rehearsal schedule at the Prouty Building at 7 p.m. Dec. 30, and each Tuesday thereafter.
Christmas lunch
PRINCETON — The Princeton Red Hats will have its Christmas lunch at 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Elks Lodge. Members are reminded to bring a re-gift and two dozen of their favorite cookies.
Blood drive
PRINCETON — The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will have a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the fourth floor multi-purpose room of Perry Memorial Hospital. Donors who last gave blood on or before Oct. 15 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form, available from blood center offices or its Web site www.bloodcenter.org. Christmas luncheon
PERU — The Sister Support breast cancer support group will have its annual Christmas luncheon at noon Thursday in Conference Room “C” at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. CHILLICOTHE — The Tri-City Women’s Connection will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Grecian Gardens in Chillicothe. Billie Cash from Collierville, Tenn., will provide special music and be speaker for the afternoon. The cost is $11 and child care is available by reservation.
