Holiday concerts

PRINCETON — First-graders from Jefferson School in Princeton and second-graders from Lincoln School in Princeton will present their holiday concerts. The Jefferson students will perform at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Princeton High School. Lincoln students will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at Princeton High School.

Youth dance

PRINCETON — A youth dance for eighth graders and under will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Princeton Moose Lodge. Admission is $4, with pizza and drinks provided at no charge. Platelet drive

PRINCETON — A platelet drive will be held Dec. 18 at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. To schedule an appointment, call the American Red Cross office at (815) 879-2231. Appointments must be scheduled in advance. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old when accompanied by a parent or guardian, must weigh at least 110 pounds and have not taken aspirin for 48 hours before donation. The names of donors will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a $25 gas card.

Quilt guild lunch

HENRY — The Marshall-Putnam Quilt Guild Christmas potluck luncheon and meeting will begin at noon Dec. 10 at the United Presbyterian Church in Henry. The meeting will be at 1 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. Table service and beverage is provided. The program is an interpretive poem by Jackie Zohfeld. The luncheon will mark the Guild’s 25th anniversary and will recognize charter members. Charity quilts will be collected. The gift exchange will feature an Asian auction of Christmas “Fat Quarters” to exchange. The first payment for the September 2009 bus trip is due.

Christmas party

SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley American Legion Post will have its Christmas party and a short meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Valley Bar and Grill. Reservations must be made to Post Commander Jim Jenkins by Dec. 5. Members are reminded that dues need to be paid by Dec. 31.

Holiday dinner

SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital will host its 17th annual holiday dinner for those people who are alone or who would not otherwise have a meal during the holiday season at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 in the hospital cafeteria. Santa will be present. The dinner is free of charge and transportation will be provided for those who wish to participate and do not have a ride. Home delivery is available for those who are home bound. This event is sponsored by donations of time and money from St. Margaret’s Hospital, employees and medical staff, area business owners and community organizations and volunteers. All reservations for home delivery or to eat in the cafeteria can be made by calling (815) 664-1695. Reservations must be made by Dec. 10.

Chili supper

WYANET — The Wyanet Boy Scouts will have tits annual chili supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, at the United Methodist Church in Wyanet. Proceeds will go toward the cost of summer camp.
