Business is a ‘Buzz' in Princeton

PRINCETON — Gina Nelson of Princeton opened Bead Buzz Jewelry Designs in Princeton after making jewelry for four and one-half years in her home.

“I also do custom work, repairs and special orders, which is about half of my business,” she said.

In addition to her own pieces, Nelson sells items made by local artisans such as Shari Vogel of Princeton who makes handmade purses or photos taken by retired teacher Kath Clark of Sheffield. Selected photos taken by Clark are sold exclusively at Nelson’s store. Clark also has photos at TownsEnd and a business in Sheffield, reported Nelson.

Nelson also has some handmade pottery made in Georgia by the sister of Rachel Schenck, the wife of Jeff Schenck, owner of Bureau Creek Vineyard Wine Store.

Nelson decided it was time to open a store when people kept coming up to her at the grocery store asking about getting jewelry she made or doing special projects for them with some mementos from their loved ones.

She plans on rotating works made by local artists at her store as time goes on, so the inventory stays fresh.

She handles Swarovski crystal, sterling silver and semi-precious stones.

Nelson, who grew up in Tiskilwa, has lived in Princeton for the past 14 years.

Her store’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is located at 432 S. Main St. in Princeton. The phone number is (815) 866-2707.
