INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — On Oct. 22-25, the Bureau Valley High School FFA Chapter went to the National FFA convention in Indianapolis, Ind. The delegates who attended were Cortney Johnson, Donna McCune, Laura Brummel, Richard Brummel, Tyler Kennedy, Chris Schuelke, Tevis Mott, Jacob Perino, Kody Thomas, Dustin Vainowski, Ryan Haney, Tyler Rumbold and Josh Knobloch.

In Indianapolis, the group attended seven sessions, which included awards, keynote speakers and retiring addresses from the national officers; there was even an escape artist who came to one of the sessions. Keynote speaker Michael Peterson told convention participants they could do anything they set their minds on doing.

Other activities for the delegates included a James Otto and Taylor Swift concert at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Also, they attended a career show, which had several companies displaying products, as well as some colleges that were trying to get the students to attend when they graduate.

On Wednesday, the Bureau Valley delegates gave their tractor presentation for their 1941 Farmall H, and on Friday, the ceremony was held to see who won. Although, Bureau Valley didn't win, the group still has great plans to work harder and do better on its John Deere A for next year.

Closing their trip on Saturday the group watched the 3,000 FFA members, including Bureau Valley’s own Brian Craine, get their American Degrees, which is the highest degree you can get in FFA.
