Mautino Library will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and again Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for the holidays. Program discontinued PRINCETON — As of Dec. 31, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 will no longer take part in the “Coupons for Overseas Commissaries” program. Because of fewer bases in the program and rising mailing costs, the Unit has decided not to continue with the program any longer. However, if the public wishes to continue to contribute to the coupon program, contact Christine Thompson, activity director at Greenfield Retirement Home, at (815) 872-2261 for information or call Carol Allicks at (815) 872-7891 in the evenings. Christmas Eve service PRINCETON — Hampshire Colony Congregational Church, 604 S. Church St. in Princeton, will hold a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m. Wednesday. The public is invited to attend to celebrate Christ’s birth. There will be special music, Christmas carols and a Christmas message. Christmas Eve service HOLLOWAYVILLE — The public is invited to celebrate the birth of our Savior at the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service at the Hollowayville United Church of Christ. There will be a service of Holy communion, a selection by the choir, traditional Christmas hymns and scripture readings. The church is on Route 6, nine miles east of Princeton. If you are traveling from the Spring Valley area, the church is just west of Seatonville. A large well-lighted stained glass window depicting Christ in the garden identifies this rural church. Christmas Eve service PRINCETON — First Lutheran Church of Princeton will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight communion services at 7 and 11 p.m. Candlelight service PRINCETON — St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church ”Church on the Hill” in rural Princeton will have a candlelight communion service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The service includes both a children’s time and special music. A service of carols and lessons with a message on “Recovering Jesus” will take place Christmas Day. The public is invited to attend both services; valet parking is available. The church is handicapped accessible and located 8 miles east of Princeton off Route 6.
