Miklavcic named Hall SAR winner

SPRING VALLEY — Ben Miklavcic has been named Hall High School’s Sons of the American Revolution Outstanding Citizenship Award winner for the 2008-09 school year. He is the son of Mark and Mary Beth Miklavcic of Spring Valley. Dependability, honesty, courtesy, respect, leadership and patriotism are qualities that determine selection for a candidate.

Miklavcic’s school activities include advanced choir, Medical Health Careers Club, Honorary Activities Club, Spanish Club, Science Club, National Honor Society, Cross Country, basketball and baseball. He has shown leadership in his roles as a freshman class representative, sophomore class president, vice president of the Honor’s Activities Club, secretary of the Student Council and captain of the basketball team. He has also participated in the Walleye Run.

Following graduation, Miklavcic plans to attend Illinois Valley Community College and possibly transfer to Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville or to University of Illinois at Chicago to pursue a career in dentistry or orthodontics.
