Cherry Grade School 3-16

CHERRY — The Cherry Grade School Board took action on the following items at its meeting March 16:

• Heard from Claire Mitchell, Carrie Lazzarotto and Scott Lazzarotto about their willingness to serve as volunteer assistant track coaches.

• Approved Comet Early Care (an enrichment program for kindergarten students that will begin in the 2009-10 school year); the destruction of closed session audio tapes from October 2007 and earlier; the purchase of certificates of deposit from the State Bank of Cherry; and changing the date of the regular April board meeting to April 27. The board also approved the tentative Amended Fiscal Year 2009 budget; placing the budget on public display for 30 days; and setting a budget hearing for 6:20 p.m. April 27 in the school conference room. The board also accepted $175 from the Cherry Parents Club toward renting a charter bus for the fifth through eighth grades' field trip in May to Chicago and renewed the lawn mowing contract with D & M Landscaping of Spring Valley.

• Hired Robyn Walters as part-time special education classroom aide and Matt Rollings as one-on-one classroom aide.

• Rehired the tenured and non-tenured teachers for the 2009-10 school year and honorably dismissed all of the school's aides.

• Hired Carrie Lazzarotto, Scott Lazzarotto and Claire Mitchell as volunteer assistant track coaches.

The school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 27, one week later than usual. A hearing on the amended Fiscal Year 2009 budget will be conducted at 6:20 p.m.
