SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley City Bank has earned a five-star superior rating for financial strength from BauerFinancial Inc. of Coral Gables, Fla., the nation’s bank rating firm.

This is the 68th consecutive quarter the Spring Valley City Bank has merited this highest honor. Earning the firm’s highest five-star rating for a decade or longer puts the Spring Valley City Bank in an elite group of banks called exceptional performance banks, only 10 percent of the nation’s banks can claim this distinction. The rating is based on the financial condition of the bank and indicates that the Spring Valley City Bank is one of the strongest banks in the country.

“The number of five-star rated banks is diminishing,” said Karen L. Dorway, president of the rating firm. “But that doesn’t mean they are extinct.
