Community NotesSpaghetti dinner CHERRY — The Cherry Parents Club will serve a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church Hall. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under. Tickets include spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert and drink. The event will also feature several raffles. Optimist meeting PRINCETON — Lt. Carol Jaross, chief crime investigator and forensics department director for the Illinois State Police, will speak at the Princeton Optimist Club’s meeting on Tuesday. Plant sale SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Auxiliary will hold a spring plant sale in the lower lobby of the hospital from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Cookout WYANET — The Wyanet Community Club will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. Genealogy meeting OTTAWA — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Guild Library, 115 W. Glover St. in Ottawa. Tom Williams will speak and show pictures of a trip to Alaska Used book sale PRINCETON — The 26th annual used book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Princeton Library, will begin today, Thursday, with a preview night from 7 to 9 p.m. and run through Sunday at the Allen Building at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. On Sunday most books will be sold at $5 per bag with marked items at half price. Prices start at 50 cents and up with most hardcovers at $1. Non-book items are priced from 25 cents. All proceeds from the sale go to Princeton Library to buy equipment and to underwrite the children’s reading programs. |
