Donald Marquis

PRINCETON — Donald C. “Bo” Marquis, 79, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died at 5:05 a.m.
Friday, April 24, 2009, at Liberty Village of Princeton.

Born Jan. 14, 1930, in Buda to Tann and Lulu (Van Sickle) Marquis, he married Barbara J. Haley in Buda April 21, 1951. She survives.

He graduated from Buda High School in 1947 and was a lifetime farmer and founding partner of Marquis Grain in Buda. He was a lifetime active member of Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda and former board member of Bureau County Farm Bureau.

Also surviving are two daughters, Wilma (James) Hewitt of Sterling, and Cathy (David) Matthews of Prophetstown; one son, Tom (Ronda) Marquis of Princeton; nine grandchildren, Rhea (Brock) Noel of North Liberty, Iowa, Heather (Eric) Meyer of Bettendorf, Iowa, Matthew Hewitt of Eureka, Greg Matthews of Washington, Ill., Karen Matthews of Rock Island, Scott Matthews of Prophetstown, Ben (Joanna) Marquis of Ottawa, Alex (Jordan) Marquis of Champaign, and Zac Marquis of Princeton; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Noel, Jenna Noel, Caitlin Meyer, Drew Marquis; four sisters, Dorothy Flint of Princeton, Wilma Ulrich of Bradenton, Fla., Loretta (Robert) McKay of Sheffield, and Beverly (Gordon) Danielson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Darrell (Colleen) Marquis of Wyanet, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Kenneth Marquis; one sister, Marie Yoder and a son-in-law, Michael Winter.
 Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bunker Hill Church of God, Buda, the Rev. Fred Criminger, the Rev. Lauren Gerber and Youth Pastor Stephen Myong officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery in rural Buda.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda.  

Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Buda is handling arrangements.
