• Reappointed Ted Harris as a trustee to the Princeton Rural Fire Protection District.

• Approved rezoning requests and conditional use permits as presented by ESDA and Zoning Committee spokesperson Marsha Lilley.

• Approved a new line item to the sheriff’s department budget to house female inmates outside the county. An amount of $3,000 was budgeted for that expense.

• Heard the county has not received the final federal bill for the Captain Swift covered bridge project.

• Heard the PIBA (Princeton Independent Business Alliance) has raised enough money to go ahead with monument repairs at Soldiers and Sailors Park. Union bricklayer Fred Kimberly of Malden will do the work, which is expected to be completed by the end of June.

• Agreed to enter into a contract with Taylor's Turf to handle the treatment and care of trees and shrubs on the courthouse lawn and at Soldiers and Sailors Park. The three-year contract will include general maintenance, including spraying for bag worms and bores.

• Approved hiring IITI, at a cost of $8,890, for floor removal in the photocopy office and hallway. The flooring was damaged by earlier basement flooding.

• Expressed appreciation to Kevin Beaber who retired in April with 32 years in the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department.

• Heard from Joe Bertetto and Rick Wilkin, co-chairmen of the Bureau County Criminal Justice Center Committee, on the upcoming meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 26 at the courthouse. The committee is seeking input from the board on recommendations for the BCCJCC mission statement.
