Bureau Valley beats Hall
MANLIUS – Bureau Valley used a big second inning to take a 11-1 lead, and held on for a 11-4 win over visiting Hall at the Bureau Valley baseball regional Thursday afternoon.
The Storm second saw 14 batters head to the plate in a seemingly endless succession of seeing-eye base hits and Red Devil fielding miscues. When the dust settled from the parade of baserunners crossing home plate, Bureau Valley had accumulated 9 runs, to take a 11-1 advantage.
Peter Elliott picked up the win for BV, going five and two-thirds innings and allowing four runs (three earned), one in the first and three in the third. Elliot gave up six hits and struck out four while issuing three walks.
Hall starter Nick Rounds picked up the loss, lasting only one and a third innings. Rounds was charged with five runs, three of which were earned, off of four hits and one walk and struck out two Storm batters.
The win advances Bureau Valley to 12-14 on the season, and sets up a rematch with Princeton in the regional finals Saturday in Manlius at 1 p.m. Earlier this season Princeton dominated both games of a Saturday doubleheader on Bureau Valley’s home turf.
