Charles Wood

PERU — Charles J. Wood, 50, of Sheffield, formerly of Peru, died at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in the emergency room at Mendota Community Hospital.

Born Dec. 15, 1958, in Peru to Clarence and Lorraine (Massat) Wood, he married Margarett Tomaszewski July 28, 1990, in Peru. She survives.

He worked at Browning Ford in Princeton and National Metalwares in LaSalle for 15 years. He then worked at HCC in Mendota for the past nine years.

He was a former member of Local 714 and a current member of Local 904 for the last nine years, where he served as union steward for five years. He was an ordained Pentecostal minister.

Also surviving are two sons, Matthew J. and Charles E. Wood at home; one daughter, Donna L. Wood at home; two brothers, Clayton Wood of Sheffield and Clark Wood of Interlochen, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael in infancy, and his parents.

There will be no services. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ptak Funeral Home. Private burial will be in the Henry Cemetery, Henry.
