Route 34 closes Monday

OTTAWA — Route 34, three miles west of Route 251 near Mendota, will be closed beginning Monday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. A marked detour will be in place and will utilize Route 6 to Route 89 to Interstate 80 to Route 251.

A $704,283 contract has been awarded to Stark Excavating Inc. of Tonica. The project work includes the removal and replacement of two concrete box culverts. All work is expected to be completed by August.

Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution when traveling near the work zone or on the marked detour.
