Donnelly awarded Hadley scholarship

MANLIUS — Katherine Donnelly, a 2009 graduate of Bureau Valley High School, is the first recipient of the Jerry Hadley Memorial Music Scholarship. She will be majoring in music education at Bradley University in Peoria, coincidentally, Hadley’s alma mater.

Jerry Hadley is remembered as one of the world’s leading vocalists. He was called America’s greatest tenor and one of the world’s greatest voices. He was also a graduate of Manlius High School and a friend to Bureau Valley schools as a monument to the community’s love of education.

The recipient must be a music major and is determined through an application and audition process. The award will be given in two $1,000 installments, one at the beginning of the recipient’s junior year in college and the other at the beginning of their senior year.
