Morris, 75, of Malden died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. He was born March 20, 1934, in Arispie Township to Floyd and Hazel (Carlson) Morris. He graduated from Malden High School. He worked at Champion Pneumatic Co. in Princeton for 34 years, retiring as a foreman. He was previously married to Janice Morris-Neff, she survives. He was a member of Malden Methodist Church, the Malden Lions Club, the Wyanet Old Car Club and the Princeton Moose Lodge. He had been a member of the Malden Fire Department for more than 40 years and had served as the fire chief. He was a past president of the Malden School Board. He served as mayor of Malden from 2001 to March 2009 and was a current village trustee. He was a Malden Fire District trustee and a member of the Malden Veterans Club for several years. Surviving are five children, Debra (Winn) Nordstrom of Texas, Pamela (David) Anson of Princeton, Patricia (Rick) Dever and Gary (Annette) Morris, both of Kentucky, and Jeff (Julie) Morris of Colo.; one sister, Irene (Elmer) Vickery of Indiana; one brother, Russell Morris of Indiana; eight grandchildren, Chad and Andy Nordstrom, Stacey Hall, Shanna Rossler, Eric Clary, Justin Morris, Josh Morris and Amber Richards; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley Wenzel of Malden. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Morris Jr. in infancy; and eight siblings. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Lloyd Johnson officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Malden Lions Club, Malden Methodist Church or Malden Fire Department. |
