Melinda Shimmin

KEWANEE — Kewanee Hospital has announced the addition of Melinda Shimmin, family nurse practitioner, to the staff of the Family Health Clinic.

Shimmin is a graduate of Wethersfield High School and Methodist School of Nursing. She worked at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria from 1989 to 2002 before coming to Kewanee Hospital where she worked in the emergency department as a registered nurse.

In December 2005, Shimmin received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet and in May 2009 received her Master of Science degree as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Illinois at Chicago. While completing her MS degree, Shimmin worked as a student provider in the Hospital’s Family Health Clinic.
