Blackerts will note 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackert of 20814 150 East Street, Mineral, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. June 21 at the Best Western banquet facility in Annawan.

Walter Blackert and the former Joyce Evans were married June 27, 1959, in Geneseo. They are the parents of four children, Wade (Julie), Ward (Vicky), Jon (Jennifer) and Jay, all of Mineral. They also have five grandchildren.

Walter retired from Henry County Sheriff’s Department in 1996 and from construction in 2008. Joyce is a homemaker.

All family and friends are invited to attend the open house, which will be hosted by the couple’s children. They request that gifts be omitted.
