CYPRESS, Ill. — R. Dale Truedson, 85, a resident of Cypress, Ill., since 1991 and a former resident of Norco, Calif. and the Chicago area, passed away at 8:30 a.m.. Monday, June 15, 2009, at his home in Cypress, Ill.
Born June 14, 1924, in Kewanee to Carl Benjamin and Iva Arminty (Coombs) Truedson, he was united in marriage to Nancy (Grabb) on June 26, 1970, in Aurora. She survives.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Columbia in the Pacific Theater of Operation during World War II. He was a life member of the VFW in Colorado.
Dale was employed as a brick mason. He had worked primarily in Illinois and California, prior to his retirement. He was affiliated with the National Brick Masons Union, as well as the state organizations in Illinois and California.
Dale was an antique collector. He was a hard worker throughout his life. Dale was a true patriot and was proud of the fact that he was born on Flag Day. Dale was a staunch Republican.
Other survivors include his children, Nancy of Nebraska, Monie of Nebraska, Caryn of Vienna, Ill., Carol of Buda, David of Florida, Jane of Aurora, Alice of Nevada, Cathy of Florida, Kathy of Colorado, Truedy of California, Annette of Colorado, Rusty of Colorado, Erik of Princeton, and Gus of Maryland; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a son, Hal and a brother, John Truedson.
In accordance with Dale’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cypress Village Park.
