Megan Machek of Elgin and Benjamin Banwart of Elgin are announcing their engagement. She is the daughter of Nora Machek of Spring Valley and the late Robert Machek. He is the son of Ronald and Janet Banwart of Elgin,

The bride-elect received her Bachelor of Arts in English education from Western Illinois University and her master’s degree in educational leadership/Type 75 from Aurora University. She is an English teacher at Elgin Larkin High School, School District U-46.

Her fiancé received his Bachelor of Arts in history education from Illinois State University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in special education from Aurora University. He is a history/English teacher at the Einstein Academy in Elgin.

The couple will be married Aug. 8 at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake.
