Senior breakfast club
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Senior Center will offer egg casserole at the next Breakfast Club on July 31. All seniors are invited to attend along with there friends. The Breakfast Club is on the last Friday of every month.
Kids events
DEPUE — Friends of Selby Township District Library have scheduled events during boat race weekend. There will be a chalk contest for children ages 4-13 on July 31. There will be a community sale in the library parking lot Aug. 1. Friends of the Library will have a bake sale along with hot dogs, chips and drink.
Meeting set

Quilt show
The Marshall-Putnam Quilter’s Guild will sponsor a bus trip to the fifth annual Quilt Expo in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 11. The Expo features hundreds of quilts and vendors form all over the country. Pick up will be at 7:30 a.m. in Henry and 8 a.m. in Peru, returning about 9 p.m. Cost of the trip is $35 and includes admission. St. Bede benefit
UTICA — The Nodding Onion in Utica will once again host the “Father Dom Gourmet Pizza Pairing” as a benefit for the St. Bede Academy drama department at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include an antipasto course, samples of four different gourmet pizzas, and a dessert pizza, each paired with a unique wine from a variety of wineries.
Tickets are $75 a couple, and are available at the Nodding Onion, (815) 667-4990, or at St. Bede Academy, (815) 223-3140, ext. 246. Seating is limited, so tickets must be purchased in advance. Proceeds from the event will be used for the Academy drama department.
Blood drive
PRINCETON — The First United Methodist Church of Princeton will hold an American Red Cross blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the church fellowship hall, 316 S. Church St. For an appointment, call (815) 879-2231.
Walnut Celebration
WALNUT — Walnut’s Hometown Celebration will be July 2-5. Events will include sports competitions, a rock climbing wall, J & M Amusements, music and beer gardens at the Heaton shelter, the 10th annual tractor and farm machinery show, a car show, the Cub Scouts soap box derby, helicopter rides, parades, a magic show, a church service and much, much more. The event will conclude with fireworks on July 5.
Talent show
