Want to be a congressional page?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Peoria, is accepting applications for a congressional page during the 2009 fall semester of the U.S. House of Representatives Republican Page Program. The session begins on Aug. 30 and concludes on Jan. 22, 2010.

To be qualified to serve as a congressional page, all applicants must be at least 16 at the time their appointment begins and have a cumulative grade point average of a “B” or better.

Congressional Pages would serve during the first semester of their junior year in high school. While serving, they would attend the House of Representatives Page School, where they will continue their 11th-grade studies while simultaneously learning about House operations.

Pages live in the Page Residence Hall and are supervised by a full-time staff. Pages are paid employees, and their room and board fees are deducted from their monthly paycheck.

Those interested in applying for the Page program should contact Nate Hurn in Schock’s office either by phone at (309) 671-7027 or by e-mail at nate.hurn@mail.house.gov.
