Robert Sobin
SPRING VALLEY — Robert John Sobin, 67, of 901 N. Spalding St., Spring Valley, died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
Born June 16, 1942, in Spring Valley to Walter and Pearl (Jeneski) Sobin, he married Mary Frasco April 27, 1963, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She survives.
He was an ironworker and member of Ironworkers Local 444 in Joliet.
He was an organ donor.
Also surviving are one son, Joe Sobin of Chicago; two daughters, Sally (David) Rutgens of La Vergne, Tenn., and Betty Sobin of Spring Valley; two brothers, Donald Sobin of Normal and James (Carlene) Sobin of Dalzell; two sisters, Barb Nanni of Spring Valley and Mary (Andy) Taliani of Spring Valley; and five grandchildren, Justin and Mary Ellen Rutgens, and Chance, Grant and Mac Resetich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 11:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Revs. Michael Monclova and Martin Mwongyera and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a rosary service will be at 10:30 a.m.
