Kenneth Rickey

HENRY — Kenneth W. Rickey, 69, of Henry died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the emergency room of Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Born May 14, 1940, in Peoria to E. Wayne and Marjorie (Carr) Rickey, he married Susan A. Mathews July 27, 1963, in St. Louis, Mo. She died April 14, 2009.

He graduated from Henry High School and attended Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He operated the family business, Rickey Sales and Service, and many other business ventures.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Henry, the Henry Rotary Club and the flying club at the Lacon Airport. He was a mason and shriner.

Surviving are his mother of Waunakee, Wis.; one daughter, Kelly (Rick) Schertz of Dunlap; one son, Scott (Melissa) Rickey of Chicago; one sister, Carol (Dave) Bleifield of Middleton, Wis.; and one brother, George (Vicky) Rickey of Minneapolis, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Presbyterian Church, Henry, with the Rev. Gavin Finefield officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery, Henry.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Kenneth W. Rickey Memorial Fund.

The Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home in Henry is in charge of arrangements.
