
Hunter’s Ridge to host Illinois Valley Women's Golf OpenBy Kevin Hieronymus - khieronymus@bcrnews.comPRINCETON — The Illinois Valley Women’s Golf Open will be returning to Princeton for the first time in 17 years. Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course will serve as host for the 51st annual event Aug. 9. The last time the tournament was held at the Princeton course, it was held at the former Bureau Valley Country Club, now a public course known as Hunter’s Ridge. Edgewood is the five-time defending champion with Spring Valley’s Carrie Riordan of Deer Park claiming the past two individual championships. Any high school or college girl in the Illinois valley area may participate. College students with a home address in the area are also eligible. The entry fee is $65, which includes green fees for the tournament, cart, gifts, awards and dinner following the tournament. A practice round is available to all golfers for $15 (for cart) from Aug. 6-8. Spectators and or spouses are welcome to attend the dinner and awards ceremony following the tournament. Trophies and awards will include a gross team traveling trophy, a net team traveling trophy and awards for individual flight winners. Also, an award will be given to seniors (age 62-69) and super seniors (age 70+). Entry forms and fees are due by July 22, mailed to Nancy DeBord, Box 533, Princeton, IL. 61356.
