Illinois USDA appointmentsWASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Roland Burris has announced the appointments of two Illinois agricultural professionals to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The appointments include that of Scherrie Giamanco, who will serve as Illinois State Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency at the USDA; and Colleen Callahan, who will serve as Illinois State Director for Rural Development at the USDA. Giamanco has served since 1997 as the Price Support Program Chief for the USDA Farm Service Agency in Illinois, where she supervises the Commodity Loan Program, providing program leadership to offices in 93 counties across the state. As Illinois State Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency, Giamanco will work to revitalize rural Illinois and improve the quality of life for Illinoisans in rural communities, especially low income families, by providing loans for farm equipment, housing, and other agricultural needs. Callahan, a former candidate for Illinois’ 18th district, is currently the president of Chicago Farmers. She owns Colleen Callahan Communications, where she provides service to numerous organizations, including the USDA. As Illinois State Director for Rural Development, Callahan will be an advocate for rural communities across the state, working to direct important programs and services provided by the USDA to communities across the state. |
