PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library invites everyone to attend a program by Bob Michel, world traveler, at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday. Bob will share his safari adventures.
The library will be closed Friday and Saturday for Independence Day.
The Teen Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. Monday to discuss “I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You” by Ally Carter. Snacks will be provided.
At 6 p.m. Monday, come to make wild beasts of your own. Jennifer Caldwell will instruct a group on origami and Glen Smith will instruct a group on ballooning.
On Tuesday, John Lynn will present an adult program called “the Prairie State Primer.” Lynn, who resides in Peoria and has a degree in history, has hiked, bicycled and canoed nearly 25,000 miles of historic and scenic routes in North America and the British Isles. He will present a program every Tuesday at 7 p.m. during the month of July. The programs are part of the Read on the Wild Side programming for our adult patrons.
On Wednesday, there will be a read-aloud time with guest reader Jill Marti at 10:30 a.m., The fifth- through eighth-grade movie club will meet at 1:30 p.m. for the movie “Madagascar 2” and snacks.
On Thursday, Youth Services will have a Safari Craft Day at 2 p.m. The Friends Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. to discuss “Olive Kitteridge” by Elizabeth Strout.
OHIO — The Ohio Public Library will hold its summer reading program each Wednesday from 1 to 3:15 p.m. to hear a story, make a craft or two, watch a movie and have a snack.
The public is invited to a summer movie festival at 1 p.m. each Tuesday, for movies that are adaptations of books.
SPRING VALLEY — The Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library will host the Lincoln Douglas Traveling Exhibit now through July 11. This exhibit is provided by the Looking For Lincoln Heritage Coalition on behalf of the Lincoln Douglas Debate Committees. The exhibit is 20 feet wide and is a comprehensive history marking the sesquicentennial of the Lincoln Douglas debates. Stop in to view the exhibit during the library’s regular hours, Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For any questions, call (815) 663-4741.
LAMOILLE — LaMoille-Clarion Library will hold a story hour from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. There will be stories, crafts and snacks so bring your friends and join the fun!
There have been lots of kids earning prizes by meeting their goal and going beyond it in the summer reading club. Don’t miss out on the cool stuff
The library is pleased to offer “Resumes, Applications, and Interviewing Skills” to students, new graduates, or those looking for a career change. The class will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at the library on Wednesday. There is no fee for the program and materials, but class size is limited so please call the library at (815) 638-2356 to reserve your place. Refreshments will be available.
Wondering just how much electricity your air conditioner is using during these hot summer days? The library has a Watt Reader made available through AmerenIP that can tell you just that. The Watt Reader may be checked out for one week to those with a current LaMoille-Clarion Public Library card.
LADD — The Ladd Public Library’s summer reading program will conclude with a magic show Monday.
WALNUT — The Walnut Public Library is having a very “Crafty Summer” this year and will feature different crafts. Some can be completed during the weekly session, some may take more time.
MINERAL — The “Read on the Wild Side” summer reading program will be held at the Mineral Gold Library on Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 3 p.m. through July 28.
TISKILWA — As part of the Tiskilwa Public Library’s summer reading program, “Read on the Wild Side,” the library will hold “Wet and Wild at the Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday. There will be fun water games, so children should wear clothing that can get wet.
Throughout the summer, children will be reading books, keeping track of them in their reading logs, and earning fun prizes for chapters and books read.

DEPUE — The Selby Township Library District will have free blood pressure and blood sugar checks every month on every second Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and on every fourth Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. individuals are asked to fast before having their sugar checked.
